Lothar Eisenberg is now reigning as the sovereign of the Preetzer guild.

In the picturesque town of Preetz, Germany, tradition and competition came together to crown a new Shooting King. The title, an honorary and ceremonial position, is typically bestowed upon the member who achieves the best score in a marksmanship contest, where the final goal is to shoot down a symbolic target, such as the last piece of a wooden bird.

This year, Lothar Eisenberg, a long-standing member of the Preetzer Shooting Guild since 1999, was chosen as the new Shooting King. The announcement was made by Wolfgang Schneider, the first elder of the guild, at around 9:30 PM on Saturday.

Last year, it took 823 bullets to shoot down the wooden bird, but this year, Detlev Hoffmann managed to "shoot down" the bird with the 697th shot. The event was attended by guests including representatives of the fire brigade and THW, the Plön shooting guild, and the Stavenhagen shooting society.

Marie Wynarski, the first Stavenhagen shooting queen, was also in attendance, adding a touch of history to the festivities. She was warmly welcomed by the Preetzer guild and even had the opportunity to shoot at the bird in the afternoon.

The newly crowned Shooting King, Lothar Eisenberg, who is 76 years old, expressed his deep gratitude for the honour. He and his wife, Barbara Eisenberg-Ludley, attended their first official event on Tuesday, where the guild leadership drew up a balance sheet of the shooting festival.

The guild leadership is already looking for potential areas of improvement, ensuring that the tradition of the Shooting King election continues to thrive in Preetz. Interestingly, Marie Wynarski noted that the way the majesty is determined in Preetz is different from Stavenhagen, with more singing and speeches involved.

Mayor Tim Brockmann welcomed the Preetzer guild brothers and guests at around 8:15 AM on Saturday, marking the start of this year's Shooting King election. As the new Shooting King, Lothar Eisenberg now has some obligations to fulfil, adding another chapter to the rich history of the Preetzer Shooting Guild.

Lothar Eisenberg, the new Shooting King, shared his gratitude for the honor, expressing that he will fulfill his obligations towards the Preetzer Shooting Guild. Despite the tradition differing slightly from Stavenhagen, with more singing and speeches involved, the event remains a significant celebration of marksmanship within sports.
