Classic Lorient Agglomération - Trophée CERATIZIT: A Challenging One-Day Race in France
The Classic Lorient Agglomération - Trophée CERATIZIT, a Women's WorldTour event, is set to take place on August 30, 2025. This one-day race will cover a distance of 165.3 km, making it the longest in the event's 24-year history.
The race will begin and end in Plouay, France, leading to a serpentine course to the south and then moving east. The route will feature five categorised climbs, with the Côte du Lézot standing out as a significant climb in the final circuit of the race.
The Côte du Lézot is a 900 m climb with an average gradient of 5%, featuring a steep 14% section. This climb will be repeated three times in the final circuit. Another notable climb is la Bosse de Rostervel, a 1,500 m climb with an average gradient of 4.5% and a 10% section.
The race structure will consist of an opening large loop (approximately 127 km) followed by 2.5 laps of an 11.7 km circuit around Plouay. This combination of distance, repeated climbs on the circuit, and accumulated elevation makes the race challenging and selective in the final kilometers.
The Côte du Lézot will be the only climb in the final circuit, with a distance of 4.3 km between the second pass of this climb and the end of the race. The race is part of the 4 Days CIC of Plouay, which includes events for elite men and juniors.
The Classic Lorient Agglomération - Trophée CERATIZIT has undergone seven name changes since its inception in 2002 as the GP de Plouay. Notable winners include Lizzie Deignan, who holds the record for the most wins with three victories between 2015 and 2020. Mischa Bredewold (SD Worx-Protime) defended her title in the 2024 edition of the race.
This year's race promises to be an exciting challenge for the participating riders, with its length, elevation gain, and demanding climbs. Strong climbers and aggressive riders adapted to repeated punchy climbs are likely to excel in this year's event.
