Longshot Victory for Victor Perez: Holes-In-One Galore at the 2025 US Open, Setting a Monthly Record

Wanna Score a Hole-In-One? You're Not Alone, But It's Tough!

Let's face it, most golfers will never experience the thrill of a hole-in-one. Some might see one or two, even after many decades on the green. There are those who claim they've hit several, but chances are you weren't around to witness it.

Did you know there's a National Hole-In-One Registry? According to them, around 1-2% of golfers manage the magical feat each year![1][2] The average handicap of these lucky souls? A respectable 14. But remember, even the pros aren't exactly aces-go-go-go. Rory McIlroy, for instance, has only recorded three aces in competitive rounds during his illustrious career that began in 2007.

Last year, French PGA Tour pro Victor Perez joined the ranks of the hole-in-one club in an extraordinary fashion. He became the second player ever to achieve the feat at Oakmont during a U.S. Open. Scott Simpson had been the first back in 1983.[3] But here's where things get interesting – Perez wasn't done for the month! His third hole-out occurred just a few weeks prior.[4]

Being on the 192-yard, par-3 sixth during the 125th U.S. Open, Perez approached the tee with a seven iron. As his high-cut shot landed about 15 feet short of the flag, bounced a couple of times, and then disappeared into the hole via its left edge, rejoice erupted on the green. A typical celebration ensued, including jumping up and down, chest bumping, and high-fiving his playing partners.

When asked about his career aces, Perez shared that he believes he's racked up approximately nine hole-in-ones so far.[4] However, his latest successes in the past month took everyone by surprise. He'd previously hit two at home in The Bahamas and this US Open round made it three. Thing is, no one believed him at home because he was playing solo![4]

Perez's impressive feat was not only a delight to behold, but critically important for the man himself. The eagle pushed him up to even par for the round and one-over for the Championship, just four strokes behind leader Sam Burns at the midway point.[5]

Wanna join Perez in the hole-in-one club? You're in the right place to learn, but remember, luck plays a big role in this game!
