Longest U.S. Open Par-4 Holes Ever Recorded
Let's Talk Golf: The Lengthiest Par-4s to Test the Champions' Mettle
The US Open at Oakmont may have some challenging par-4s this week, but they don't even make it to the top 20 for the longest in tournament history. Oakmont's longest par-3 and par-5 can brag about holding US Open records, but the par-4s, at 507 and 502 yards, pale in comparison to the monsters on the rotation.
The recent US Open at the Los Angeles Country Club's North Course took the crown for the longest par-4 in US Open history. In 2023, Wyndham Clark snatched the trophy from Rory McIlroy by a stroke while tackling a gargantuan 558-yard par-4 in the third round on Saturday. The day before, the hole had played three yards shorter at 555 yards, setting a then-record for the longest par-4 in US Open history.
Before Los Angeles, Chambers Bay set the bar for the longest holes in the US Open, with the 11th and 13th now occupying third and fourth place on the overall list. During the 2015 US Open won by Jordan Spieth, the 11th came in at 544 yards, and the 13th was a touch longer at 551 yards.

Two lengthy par-4s on the same course on the same day? That's a significant challenge, especially with the controversial bumpy greens at Chambers Bay. The fourth at Pinehurst No.2 rounds out the top five longest par-4s in the US Open, measuring in at an impressive 542 yards during the third round in 2014. Shinnecock Hills and Torrey Pines are the only other two US Open courses to make the list of the top 20 longest par-4s ever played in the event.

One could argue that the Los Angeles Country Club's North Course holds the record for the longest par-4 in US Open history with two holes, the 16th, measuring 558 yards in the third round and 555 yards in the second round in 2023. In contrast, the same course also offers a variety of sports including tennis, which might appeal to golf enthusiasts seeking additional activities.
