Long-term Israeli Defense Forces anticipate ongoing military operation in Gaza for multiple months ahead
In a significant development, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have announced the commencement of Operation 'Gideon's Chariots B' in Gaza City. This operation, expected to last several months, marks a crucial phase in the ongoing conflict.
The IDF has deepened its ground operations in Gaza City, with ground troops now operating within the urban landscape. This decision follows an estimated increase in the number of terrorists in Gaza City, which the IDF estimates to be around 2,500 in recent weeks.
The IDF Arabic spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, made this announcement to Gaza City residents this morning (Wednesday). He also announced the opening of another exit route from Gaza City southwards, via Salah al-Din Street, effective from Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. until Friday.
Meanwhile, Hamas' central military headquarters is located in the heart of Gaza City. The commander of the Hamas military units in Gaza City, Izz al-Din Haddad, is believed to be coordinating ambushes and guerrilla warfare there, presumably remaining active in this role for the foreseeable future. It is also believed that Haddad is currently hiding in the tunnels in Gaza City.
The fighting is expected to be prolonged, according to an IDF spokesperson, who also warned that clearing the infrastructure in Gaza City may take much longer. The conquest of Gaza City is estimated to take between two and three months.
In a 'fateful and decisive attack', IDF forces have entered Gaza City, joining Division 36, who will join the operation in the coming days. The IDF forces will continue to operate deeper in the field, together with the ground troops.
Reports suggest that living hostages are being moved from place to place in Gaza City (Source: Kan News). The IDF has emphasised its commitment to minimising civilian casualties and ensuring the safety of the population.
As the operation unfolds, updates will be provided to keep the public informed. The IDF remains steadfast in its mission to maintain security and stability in the region.
