London's fleeting warmth gives way to rain and cultural last calls

Londoners are making the most of a brief warm spell this week, with temperatures hitting 16 degrees. But the sunshine won't last, as colder weather and rain return by Friday. Meanwhile, cultural events like the orchid festival at Kew Gardens and Sheridan Smith's West End play are drawing crowds before they close this weekend.

The annual orchid festival at Kew Gardens is showcasing stunning Chinese floral displays until Sunday. Visitors have just days left to explore the vibrant exhibition before it ends.

Over in the West End, Sheridan Smith's acclaimed performance in Woman in Mind will wrap up this Saturday at the Duke of York's Theatre. Theatregoers are rushing to catch the final shows.

For food lovers, a new Georgian restaurant called DakaDaka has opened near Piccadilly Circus. The menu features shareable dishes like hummus, stuffed flatbreads, dumplings, and cheese-filled cornbread.

At the Queer Britain museum in King's Cross, updated exhibits now include sections of the AIDS quilt and historical film posters. The displays offer a deeper look into LGBTQ+ history and culture.

The warm weather, however, is short-lived. Rain is forecast for Friday, with temperatures dropping to around 7 degrees. Over the weekend, highs will struggle to reach 11 or 12 degrees.

Despite the chill, Notting Hill's Mall Tavern will host a beer festival this weekend. Over 50 independent breweries will be featured, giving locals a chance to sample craft beers before the cold sets in.

The next few days offer a mix of cultural highlights and seasonal shifts. From theatre and food to floral displays and beer tastings, London has plenty to enjoy before the weather turns. But with rain and lower temperatures on the way, the brief taste of spring will soon fade.
