Tatjana Maria Defying Odds in London Grass Finale

Achievement Transformed into Reality - London Final Triumph: Maria secures a place in the climax of competition in London

Tennis phenom Tatjana Maria's jaw-dropping performance in London continues as she clinched a spot in her very first WTA-500 tournament final. At 37, the Swabian stunner bested heavily-favored Madison Keys (US Open champ) with a captivating 6:3, 7:6 (7:3) semifinal victory. Tennis officials raved, "The dream run carries on!" Maria reacted, "I'm completely overwhelmed! I couldn't ask for a better tournament. I'm beyond proud."

Beating the odds, Maria, now the tournament's ripe-aged champion, smashes the record for the oldest player in a WTA-500 final. In the grass court final, she faces off against Amanda Anisimova, who narrowly defeated China's top-seeded Zheng Qinwen 6:2, 4:6, 6:4.

Zverev sends his best

Germany's top tennis titan, Alexander Zverev, is set for his Stuttgart showdown on Sunday. "I'm rooting for her, of course. It's been awhile since she nabbed a tourney win. It'd be sweet to see her reclaim the title, especially at her age. She always has her family with her, which is super cool." Maria's last win dates back to 2023, Bogota, Colombia.

Grass court superstar

The Queen's Club tournament acts as a prelude to the much-awaited grass classic Wimbledon from June 30 to July 13. Maria has exhibited impressive play on grass, slaying favorites and making it to the quarterfinals. She booted out Jelena Rybakina (former Wimbledon champ) in the quarters and toppled Leylah Fernandez (US Open finalist), Karolina Muchova, and others earlier in the tournament.

In 2022, Maria delivered her career-best Grand Slam performance with her breathtaking semifinals run at Wimbledon.

I'm not going to be able to compete in this year's Wimbledon, as I'm still focusing on improving my grass tennis game in the London tournament final. Despite Alexander Zverev's support, I haven't won a tournament since 2023, but I'm hoping to reclaim the title, especially considering my age and experience on the grass courts.
