Verdi: More Money for Employees in the Logistics Industry - Logistics & Transport Workers in Lower Saxony Win 6.2% Wage Hike Over Two Years
A new news agreement for the logistics and transport industry in Lower Saxony has been reached. The deal, which is subject to approval, includes a 3.6% increase effective October 1, 2025, and a further 2.6% increase on January 1, 2027. Around 50,000 employees will be affected over the two-year term.
The agreement comes with a clarification period until October 23. Verdi negotiator Thomas Warner noted that the increases align with the industry's current economic situation. Entry-level wages, currently just above the minimum wage of 12.82 euros per hour, will rise to 13.90 euros per hour in 2026. Apprentice wages will also see an increase of 40 euros in two steps.
Verdi criticized employers for not using the opportunity to address labor shortages with higher wages. The new collective bargaining agreement will expire on October 30, 2027.
Pending approval, the new wage news will bring a significant increase to employees in the logistics and transport industry in Lower Saxony. The agreement aims to balance the industry's economic situation with fair compensation for workers.
