Locating Karlach in Baldur's Gate 3: A Guide
In the world of Baldur's Gate 3, Karlach, a Tiefling warrior, makes a significant appearance. Once enslaved and forced to fight in the Blood War for the Archdevil Zariel, Karlach now finds herself as a companion in your quest.
Karlach can be found at the end of the Risen Road, sitting on a rock near a river shore. Her location is just south of the abandoned Tollhouse and north of the Owlbear Nest. To reach her, follow the trail eastwards down to the river shore at approximately coordinates X:111 Y:503, where she is struggling with flames. Approaching and speaking with Karlach will allow you to recruit her into your party.
To progress Karlach’s companion questline titled "The Hellion’s Heart," you need to work with Dammon the Infernal Mechanic. Dammon can be found in various locations across Acts 1, 2, and 3, starting near the Emerald Grove in Act 1. You will assist him by gathering Infernal Iron to fix Karlach’s Infernal Engine, which is essential for progressing her story.
Players can also pursue a romance path with Karlach once you have built enough approval. She initiates dialogue events marked by an exclamation point, including scenes that deepen her story and relationship if you choose to pursue them.
Karlach is a fierce fighter with immense strength and endurance, but she is also friendly and caring. However, her past has left a trail of hunters, including Wyll and Paladins of Tyr, who believe she is still a devil due to their misinformation. In reality, Karlach escaped from her enslavement by sneaking onto a Nautiloid that captured your character.
Anders, another character in the game, claims to want to do good and save others, but he sided with Zariel for greater power and hellish magic. He owes Zariel his soul, but she is willing to let that part go if he brings her Karlach’s soul instead.
Goblins occupy the Blighted Village, but monstrous Gnolls occupy the path leading East. Be aware of these encounters as you journey to find and recruit Karlach, the fierce and compassionate Tiefling warrior, to join your party.
