Local Writer Galina Belomestnova Wins Mikhail Vishnyakov Literary Prize

Galina Belomestnova, a local writer from the Chernyshevsky district of the Zabaykalsky region, has been honoured with the Mikhail Vishnyakov Governor's Literary Prize. The award was presented at the 'Zabaykalskaya Osennaya' festival in Chita on September 12.

Belomestnova's winning novel is 'Smertelnaya Missiya v Khaiare', a gripping tale set during the Soviet-Japanese war. The story revolves around the assault on the fortified area around Khabarovsk in 1945. The book is part of a series, with the first novel, 'Strategiya Uprezhdayushchego Udara', published earlier this year.

The novel begins with an attempt by Japanese intelligence to recruit a Soviet scientist who later becomes a spy. The story is a testament to the region's rich historical context and Belomestnova's skill in weaving a compelling narrative.

The Mikhail Vishnyakov Literary Prize is awarded annually to writers and poets from the Zabaykalsky region who have made significant contributions to regional literature. Belomestnova's win is a testament to her talent and the cultural vibrancy of the region.
