Local schools shine in early bird track meets with standout wins

Local schools shine in early bird track meets with standout wins

Local schools have shown strong performances in two recent co-ed track meets. The Hawk girls secured a decisive win at the West Delaware early bird event. Meanwhile, Northeast topped the girls division at the Tipton early bird competition with a narrow lead over Ed-Co. At the West Delaware early bird meet, the Hawk girls dominated with a total of 158 points. Their victory placed them well ahead of the other teams.

In the boys division at the same event, West Delaware tied with Oelwein, each scoring 116 points. Independence followed in fourth place with 79 points, while Maquoketa Valley took third with 84 points. Ed-Co and Central City finished eighth and seventh, respectively, with 22 and 24 points. Over at the Tipton early bird meet, Northeast claimed the girls division title with 104 points. Ed-Co came in second with 106 points, narrowly missing the top spot. Maquoketa Valley placed fourth with 70 points, and Independence finished sixth with 52 points.

The results highlight competitive performances across both meets. The Hawk girls' high score at West Delaware stands out, while Northeast's narrow win over Ed-Co at Tipton shows a tight race. Schools will now prepare for the next events in the season.
