Local Police Honors Bravery and Dedication on St. Michael's Day

The Local Police recently celebrated the Day of St. Michael the Archangel at the San Marcos Cultural Center. The event, presided over by Mayor Carlos Velázquez and Deputy Mayor Inés Cañizares, saw the first-ever awarding of police merit medals. These medals recognised exceptional service and bravery among the local police force.

Gold merit medals were awarded to Inspector Antonio Sánchez Palencia de Frutos, Superintendent Fernando Díaz Rolando, and Sub-Inspector Julio Nodal Hernández. Unfortunately, no further information about Inspector Antonio Sánchez Palencia de Frutos is publicly available.

Agent Miguel Ángel Ávila Domingo was honoured for his quick thinking and action in reviving a citizen in cardiac arrest. Meanwhile, Narco, a loyal dog from the canine unit, received a medal for his 13 years of dedicated service.

Silver merit medals were awarded to Colonel Chief José María Gil, Chief Inspector Francisco Javier Igual Madruga, and several local police officers: Carlos López Rodríguez, José Marcos López, Raquel Gil Jiménez, Roberto Pérez Guijarro, and Darío Isabel Arias. Their courage and commitment were recognised.

Officers Óscar Collado Hernández and Francisco Sánchez Benítez were commended for risking their lives in a warehouse explosion. Their bravery was highlighted during the event.

The Local Police celebrated their patron saint's day with a ceremony honouring exceptional service and bravery. The first-ever police merit medals were awarded, recognising officers and a canine unit member for their dedication and courage. The event also paid tribute to late local police officer Santiago Guio Calvo, with his wife Gema receiving a bouquet of flowers from Deputy Mayor Inés Cañizares.
