Local entrepreneur and community leader Max Pollin passes away at 94 years old

Max Pollin Sr., a renowned figure in the town of Pförring, will be laid to rest following a requiem service on Friday, August 8. The requiem will be held in Pförring, with an earlier funeral service taking place on Thursday, August 7 at 6 pm.

Bernhard Sammiller, today's deputy district administrator, described Max Pollin as an outstanding local politician and an entrepreneur who "always gave people a chance." Sammiller highlighted Pollin's ability to bring three state ministers to Pförring, a testament to his influence and connections.

Max Pollin served as the second mayor of Pförring for 18 years and was a CSU representative in the town council for 48 years, from 1972 until April 2020. His dedication to the town was evident in his commitment to supporting local clubs and his efforts to move Pförring forward.

Pollin was more than just an employer to many. He was a mentor, a visionary, and always approachable. His company, Pollin Electronic GmbH, started as a small electrical shop in Pförring and grew to become a significant player in the industry, known beyond the borders of the Free State. Under his leadership, the company flourished, becoming a major player in Europe.

Max Pollin was passionate about sports, culture, and local clubs and was a long-term sponsor of FC Ingolstadt 04. From 1997, Pollin Electronic was the main sponsor of the open-air festival at the Pförring gravel pit. His contributions during the municipal reform ensured that Pförring remained an independent municipality.

In recognition of his services, Max Pollin was awarded the honorary citizenship of the market town of Pförring in 2000 and received the Federal Cross of Merit in 2008.
