Local Elections Staff at UWG Erndtebrück Announced

In the upcoming local elections, the UWG local branch in Erndtebrück is encouraging citizens to take a more active role in politics. The branch, led by Benjamin Lübbert, believes that local participation is essential for addressing community-specific issues effectively.

Despite a general decline in the population's willingness to engage in local politics, the UWG recognises the importance of citizens' involvement in ensuring sustainable and representative decision-making. Increased engagement can help strengthen democratic processes, ensure diverse perspectives are heard, and foster a sense of community ownership over local governance.

Benjamin Lübbert, the chairman of the UWG local branch, emphasised the importance of giving a voice to those who are directly affected by local decisions. "It's precisely the people who are in the midst of life who cannot remain unheard in politics," he said.

The UWG has filled all eleven Erndtebrück electoral districts with eleven motivated candidates. Among them are Claudia Braun (Electoral District II, 6), Florian Weidinger (Electoral District III), Mirko Scholz (Electoral District X, 4), and Peter Althaus (Electoral District I, 8).

However, the UWG notes that not all groups have managed to achieve this level of political engagement. The local Free Voters in Erndtebrück, led by Matthias Althaus (Wahlbezirk VIII, List 3), aim to join the district council, but without Horst-Günter Linde.

Interestingly, the FDP in Wittgenstein is bucking the federal trend by advocating for increased political engagement. The specifics of this "federal trend" are not detailed, but the FDP's stance aligns with the UWG's call for more citizen involvement.

The press release from the UWG also mentions talks between the UWG and FDP in Erndtebrück about a joint list, which ultimately failed. Candidates running for the FDP in Wittgenstein include Olaf Kettler (Electoral District IX, 1) and Vladislav Keil (Electoral District VI, 9).

Kevin Huckauf (Electoral District IV, 5) and Erika Saßmannshausen (Electoral District VII, 10) are also running in the elections, adding to the diverse pool of candidates vying for positions in local governance.

As the local elections approach, the UWG continues to appeal for more political engagement, emphasising the importance of local voices in shaping the future of Erndtebrück.

The UWG in Erndtebrück, while acknowledging a reduction in general engagement with local politics, is advocating for a strong citizen involvement in policy-and-legislation, as it fosters a sense of community ownership and diverse perspectives, helping address community-specific issues effectively. Following this call, the FDP in Wittgenstein is also striving to buck the federal trend and advocate for increased political engagement.
