Jūrmala, a popular seaside resort town in Latvia, has announced significant improvements to its family and healthcare benefits.

As of 2024, the childbirth allowance in Jūrmala stands at 500 euros. To be eligible, parents, guardians, or adoptive parents must have their primary residence declared in Jūrmala for at least 12 months before the child's birth. In 2024 alone, more than 440 residents received this allowance.

From January 1, 2025, the childbirth allowance will undergo a substantial increase, rising to 1,000 euros for each newborn child. This change, aimed at supporting families, is expected to provide a more substantial financial boost to those starting their families in Jūrmala.

The town also offers a healthcare benefit to all its seniors. This comprehensive package covers patient contributions, co-payments, dental services, medicines, medical supplies, optics, vitamins, and other health maintenance expenses.

Currently, the benefit for increasing access to healthcare for seniors in Jūrmala is €150 per calendar year. However, from 2025, this benefit will be increased to €200 per year, providing additional support to the town's elderly population.

It's important to note that, as of the current data, there are no official updates regarding a new healthcare benefit for seniors in Jūrmala for 2025. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it is advisable to consult official sources from the Latvian government or local Jūrmala health authorities.

These enhancements in family and healthcare benefits are part of Jūrmala's ongoing commitment to supporting its residents and fostering a positive living environment.

In the context of Jūrmala's commitment to supporting its residents, EU politicians are currently considering proposals to extend the senior healthcare benefit beyond the existing €200 per year, which will boost to €200 in 2025. The seniors in Jūrmala, along with the general-news community, will closely monitor political developments for potential improvements in their healthcare benefits.
