Local authorities in Hürth revealed details regarding the selection of members for the Regional Council.
The local election for Landrat in the city of Hürth, Germany, did not result in an absolute majority for any candidate. As a result, a runoff election has been scheduled for Sunday, September 28, 2025.
The organization responsible for conducting this election is the local election office (Wahlbüro) of the city of Hürth. The polling station at the Hürth town hall (Rathaus Hürth) will be open on election day from early morning until the evening, typically from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. However, it is recommended to confirm the exact opening hours for advance voting with the city administration.
For those who wish to vote by post, postal voting docs for the runoff election are expected to be dispatched starting September 19. It is important to note that the delivery of these docs may not be guaranteed for international shipments before election day on September 28. Therefore, it is recommended to pick up the postal voting docs at the voting office in the Hürth town hall before election day or to vote directly on site to bypass the postal delivery time.
Eligible voters who have not yet applied for postal voting docs can do so via the Online Postal Vote Application. Those who have applied for postal voting for the runoff election can only vote at the polling station on election day if they present the postal voting docs and the enclosed voting slip.
The voting office in the town hall, Room 211, will open simultaneously with the distribution of ballots. It is important to bring a valid ID or passport and possibly the voting notification to the voting office. Only postal voting docs received at the town hall by 4 PM on election day will be counted.
The electoral office is available to help with any questions regarding the election. Contact information for the electoral office includes a phone number (02233 / 53-780) and email address ([email protected]).
For voters who prefer to vote at the polling station on election day, voting only requires a valid ID or passport. The Polling Station Finder is available for voters to find their correct polling station.
It is worth mentioning that postal vote applications received during the runoff election week may not arrive in time. Therefore, it is advisable to apply for postal voting as early as possible.
Friday, September 19, 2025, the voting office's hours are from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM, and on Friday, September 26, 2025, the hours are from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
Voters are encouraged to exercise their civic duty and participate in the runoff election for Landrat on September 28, 2025.
