Schermbeck Fire Department Assists in Krefeld Storm Recovery

The Schermbeck Fire Department was part of a task force that responded to the severe storms that hit Krefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, from Saturday to Sunday. The task force, which included personnel and vehicles from Dinslaken, Wesel, and Hünxe, played a crucial role in emergency response efforts.

The deployment began when several members of the Schermbeck Fire Department were alerted as part of NRW's Deployment Readiness 1 on Sunday morning at 6:20 AM. They departed with an Incident Command Vehicle and a LF20 Catastrophe Protection vehicle, joining forces with additional personnel and vehicles from their neighbouring towns.

The task force proceeded to the assembly point of the entire deployment readiness in Duisburg before traveling to Krefeld in a convoy. Upon arrival, they worked on several incidents, including flooded basements and fallen trees. Task Force 3 of the On-Call Deployment was particularly active in Krefeld, working tirelessly to address these issues.

By 2:00 PM, all open tasks were completed in Krefeld. The Schermbeck firefighters, having fulfilled their duties, ended their deployment around 3:30 PM.
