The Verdi Off festival, a celebration of opera and the arts, is back for its tenth anniversary, inviting everyone to share in the emotions and passion for Verdi. Curated by Barbara Minghetti, the festival aims to bring the Festival Verdi out of the theaters towards the public, with events spanning from the city center to the Oltretorrente.

The festival kicks off with a musical event themed around Falstaff, setting the tone for a week filled with music, theatre, and art. Over a thousand artists are involved, featuring choral ensembles, bands, singers, actors, dancers, acrobats, and visual artists.

One of the highlights of the festival is the immersive project, "Macbeth," where the central figure appears as an ultra-realistic human figure. Visitors can even meet Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, and other characters from Verdi's operas face to face in a room.

The Yurta di Peppino, a tent for workshops and shows for children and families, is located at Piazzale Picelli in the Oltretorrente for a month. The Animanera company presents a performance exploring love in its most secret folds, from obsession to jealousy, from abandonment to passion, from dream to reality.

The festival also emphasizes participation, inclusion, hospitality, and care. It invites Rsa and prison to participate, encouraging everyone to be a part of the celebrations. The Verdi Street Parade takes place on the 20th at 6 PM, a vibrant procession through the streets of Parma.

The Teatro Regio hosts Il Cucù Verdiano, a performance of Verdian arias daily at 1 PM, offering a more intimate experience for opera lovers. The festival culminates in a videomapping on the Palazzo della Pilotta, reworking threads from La Battaglia di Legnano, Aida, Macbeth, and I Masnadieri.

On the 21st, an immersive project called Il sonno uccidesti is held at the Galleria San Ludovico. Based on a monologue by Macbeth after he has stabbed the king of Scotland, this event promises to be a thought-provoking conclusion to the festival.

Directed by Nelo Risi, "In bed with Verdi" is another immersive project that invites visitors to explore Verdi's operas in a unique and interactive way. The Verdi Off festival is more than just a celebration of opera; it's a chance to experience it in new and exciting ways.

So, whether you're a seasoned opera enthusiast or a curious first-timer, the Verdi Off festival has something for everyone. Come and join the celebrations, and let the magic of Verdi's operas enrich your life.
