In the picturesque town of Luenen, a historic shepherding competition is underway. Organised by Schafzuchter Verein NRW and Arbeitsgemeinschaft zur Zucht altdeutscher Huetehunde, this event is a significant part of the local agricultural scene.

Annika Kemper, a fourth-generation shepherd from Lippstadt, is one of the four participants vying for the top spot. Her son, Luka, is present, and her hope is that he will become the fifth generation of shepherds in her family. Annika's brother, Tobias Kemper, is also a shepherd and is supporting her in the competition.

The competition is taking place in the Leitungshueten, a traditional structure used for shepherding. Three other participants are also competing, making for a thrilling and closely contested event.

Our reporters had the opportunity to speak with the shepherds on site, capturing their stories and the spirit of the competition. However, our search for specific details about a shepherding competition in Luenen, including its schedule and qualification process for a national event, yielded no relevant results.

Despite this, we encourage those interested in local events to keep an eye on community sites, agricultural fairs, and shepherding associations for updates on future competitions. The winner of this competition will qualify for the national competition in Sachsen-Anhalt in September.

As the competition unfolds, we will continue to bring you updates on this exciting event. Stay tuned for more!
