Liverpool's Alexander Isak on the Brink of Debut Amid Transfer Saga

Alexander Isak, the Swedish striker, is edging closer to making his Liverpool debut, potentially in the highly anticipated Merseyside derby against Everton. The 22-year-old's preparations for the new season have been disrupted due to a prolonged transfer saga.

Isak's last competitive club appearance was in May, during Newcastle United's end-of-season defeat by Everton. Since then, he has been training with Liverpool's team, participating in open sessions as recently as Tuesday. If he does not debut against Real Madrid, it is expected that he will make his bow for Liverpool in the Merseyside derby.

Jon Dahl Tomasson, Sweden's boss, limited Isak's playing time during the international break to just 18 minutes. This was a result of the transfer uncertainty and the striker's focus on securing his move to Anfield.

Liverpool hopes that Isak's arrival can help them score goals earlier in games. The Reds have struggled in this area, and Isak's pace and finishing ability could provide a much-needed boost.

Meanwhile, Curtis Jones is a doubt for the Real Madrid match due to his absence from the first-team group at the AXA Training Centre. His absence could provide an opportunity for Hugo Ekitike, who could possibly make his debut for Liverpool FC in the Champions League opener against Real Madrid.

Isak was not part of the matchday squad for Liverpool's game against Burnley over the weekend. If he does make his debut against Real Madrid, it will mark the end of a long and drawn-out transfer saga and a new chapter in his career at Liverpool.
