Potential Transfer Saga: Harvey Elliott and RB Leipzig Leading the Race

In the ongoing transfer market, one name that has been generating buzz is that of Liverpool's young talent, Harvey Elliott. While the specific details of the potential transfer deals are still under discussion, it seems that RB Leipzig are currently leading the chase for the versatile attacking midfielder or winger.

According to reports, Liverpool have set a price of either €55m (£47.5m) with a buyback clause or €65m (£56.2m) without it, for Elliott's services. Leipzig's management, including their manager and sporting director, have held direct talks with Elliott, who is reportedly open to the move for more regular playing time.

However, the reported lead in the pursuit of Elliott does not guarantee a successful transfer for RB Leipzig. Other clubs appear to be further advanced in the pursuit of the young Englishman, with Tottenham Hotspur having shown interest in a deal. If Tottenham were to sign Elliott, it could be an astute move, given his potential and versatility.

The reported transfer fee for Elliott remains between £40 million and £50 million. Interestingly, another potential deal for Elliott could involve a £50 million fee without a buy-back clause. However, it's important to note that RB Leipzig's interest in Elliott does not necessarily imply a deal without a buy-back clause.

Liverpool might be reluctant in selling Elliott, but journalist Pete O'Rourke stated that the club might consider selling him for the right fee. Despite ongoing discussions, Liverpool are preparing to sell Elliott for approximately £40 million in the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, West Ham United have shown genuine interest and have planned talks regarding a move for Elliott as well. However, they are expected to assess Elliott’s fitness closely due to a previous foot injury before making any final decisions.

As of mid-August 2025, RB Leipzig is the primary club in active transfer negotiations with Liverpool for Harvey Elliott, while West Ham remains a potential but not yet negotiating interested party. The transfer saga continues, with fans and football enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the final decision.

If a deal between RB Leipzig and Liverpool for Harvey Elliott were to go through, it could see the Englishman move to the German club, strengthening their squad in European leagues. With Tottenhotspur also in the picture, Elliott could potentially join the Premier League club instead, adding more excitement to the ongoing transfer saga.
