Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch facing suspension for the team's opening game versus Bournemouth.

Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch will be serving a one-game suspension in the Premier League opener against Bournemouth, following an incident in the last game of the previous season.

Gravenberch was sent off in the 68th minute of Liverpool's final game against Crystal Palace for a high challenge on Daichi Kamada, which prevented a goalscoring opportunity. The red card resulted in a one-game suspension, which has been carried over into the first game of the current Premier League season.

The suspension means Gravenberch will miss the clash at Anfield on Friday night at 8pm. The Dutch midfielder has become a key player for Liverpool, contributing to their title-winning campaign last season, where he played in 37 of the 38 top-flight fixtures.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot expressed his disappointment at the suspension, stating that Gravenberch is an honest player who never dives or wastes time. However, Slot believes that Gravenberch received two yellow cards, the first one for simulation, which led to his suspension.

In the absence of Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai could be partnered in midfield. Curtis Jones is also an option to step in for the suspended midfielder.

Fans can tune in to the game through talkSPORT, which is available on their website, app, DAB digital radio, smart speaker, and 1089 or 1053 AM. Exclusive live commentary of the game will be provided by talkSPORT.
