The Rome Film Festival is set to showcase an exciting lineup of films this October, with a mix of crowd-pleasers and more eclectic titles. One of the highly anticipated documentaries is "Kenny Dalglish," a Prime Video project directed by Oscar-winning director Asif Kapadia.

"Kenny Dalglish" offers an intimate look at the life of the iconic Scottish soccer player Kenny Dalglish, who led Liverpool Football Club to a number of victories as both player and manager. The documentary, narrated by Dalglish himself, uses archival footage, including never-before-seen personal clips from Dalglish's playing career and home life.

Asif Kapadia, known for his work on "Senna," "Amy," and "Diego Maradona," will premiere "Kenny Dalglish" at the Rome Film Festival. The film will have a one-night-only cinema screening on October 29, 2025, before becoming available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video in the UK and Ireland from November 4, 2025.

Apart from its world premiere at the Rome Film Festival, several other notable films and personalities will be present at the event. British producer David Puttnam will receive Rome's inaugural Industry Lifetime Achievement Award on the festival's opening night. Jafar Panahi will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Rome Film Festival from Oscar-winning director Giuseppe Tornatore.

Other films in the lineup include "Our Hero, Balthazar," a black comedy about gun violence, starring Asa Butterfield and Jaeden Martell, and "The Eyes of Others," an erotic thriller by Andrea de Sica, based on a Rome-set affair from 1970. "Re-Creation," directed by Jim Sheridan, centers on the brutal 1966 murder of French film and TV producer Sophie Toscan du Plantier.

"The Things You Kill," a political drama by Alireza Khatami, has been selected to represent Canada at the Oscars. Caleb Landry Jones, Christoph Waltz, and Matilda De Angelis will attend the festival for "Dracula: A Love Tale." Jennifer Lawrence is expected to attend the Rome Film Festival to promote "Die My Love."

It's worth noting that the Rome Film Festival's lineup primarily consists of titles that have previously premiered elsewhere on the circuit. However, the festival promises an unforgettable experience for cinema lovers, with a diverse selection of films and the opportunity to meet some of the industry's most renowned figures.

The Rome Film Festival's 20th edition will run from October 15 to October 26. Don't miss out on the chance to witness the world premiere of "Kenny Dalglish" and experience the magic of cinema in Rome.
