Liverpool approves Darwin Nuñez's transfer to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia during the transfer window
Liverpool FC have reached an agreement to sell Darwin Nuñez to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, with the deal potentially worth up to £56.6 million.
The initial guaranteed amount Liverpool will receive is £46.2 million (€53 million), while add-ons linked to performance or other conditions could bring the total to around £56.6 million (€65 million).
Nuñez, who joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2022 for an initial £64 million, has pushed for a move after a mixed spell at Anfield. Al-Hilal have offered the most competitive package compared to interest from AC Milan and Napoli.
Liverpool had earlier rejected offers due to valuation or payment terms, but this deal has now been finalized and announced as a permanent transfer.
This transfer marks a significant milestone for Liverpool, as the income from Nuñez's sale will take their total from player sales past £250 million since Richard Hughes became sporting director.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have also sold Tyler Morton to Lyon for £15 million on Tuesday. The club is looking to recoup about £60 million from the sale of Nuñez.
Liverpool have been active in the transfer market this summer, investing almost £300 million on players. The club could potentially sell Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa, with Leipzig considering a move for Elliott should Xavi Simons join Chelsea.
Nuñez could still be part of Liverpool's plans for the Community Shield against Crystal Palace, if he is not sold. Al-Hilal are considering a meeting with the striker at their training camp in Germany.

The sale of Darwin Nuñez to Al-Hilal signals Liverpool's involvement in European football's transfer market, potentially boosting their Premier League funds by approximately £60 million. Meanwhile, the departure of Nuñez might allow Liverpool to further reinforce their squad, possibly targeting players from other European-leagues.
