Winter Vibes on Wasserkuppe and Hoherodskopf

Embrace the winter charm at Wasserkuppe and Hoherodskopf! Adventure seekers flocked to Hesse's highest mountain (950 meters), with a passionate spokesperson from Wiegand Erlebnisberge GmbH marveling at "super conditions." The first weekend of December brought clear skies and improved weather compared to the slightly hazy previous day.

An energetic atmosphere filled the slopes as lifts commenced operations at 9.30 a.m. on Saturday. Jeremias Kümpel from Wiegand Erlebnisberge GmbH shared that the crowd was lively, yet not overwhelming. The snow depth on the Märchenwiese run amounted to an impressive 40 centimeters.

Meanwhile, Hoherodskopf was also getting in on the action. Its new ski season kicked off at the Rennwiese lift, which was already bustling with excitement. Thanks to the recent snowfall, preparing and opening the lifts ran smoothly—some teams even worked into the night to ensure winter sports enthusiasts had a seamless experience over the weekend.

Jeremias Kümpel expressed confidence in maintaining stable skiing operations on Wasserkuppe for at least another two to three weeks. However, he noted that Hoherodskopf's future condition would become apparent within the following days.

In neighboring Willingen, a highly-esteemed winter sports region in northern Hesse, skiers can expect to hit the slopes during the second weekend of Advent. Furthermore, the nearby picturesque town of Gersfeld invites visitors to join in the winter festivities.

As winter sports enthusiasts continue to revel in the delightful side of winter, it's worth noting that the German Weather Service (DWD) forecasts cloudy weather on Monday with snowfall in certain areas. Tuesday's outlook predicts a mix of precipitation and low temperatures, with West experiencing 0 degrees and East a light frost of -3 degrees.
