Ontario Sports Bettors Can Now Bet on Live Horse Races, Including the King's Plate

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has partnered with Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG) to allow sports bettors to place bets on live horse races, including the prestigious King's Plate. This partnership provides a user-friendly parimutuel wagering experience on live races from Ontario tracks and around the world.

OLG's digital platform, available on OLG.ca and the OLG app, is now home to WEG’s horse racing wagering product, powered by HPIbet, Canada's leading online horse racing betting platform. This plug-and-play interface is integrated into OLG’s platform, making it easy for bettors to access and place their wagers.

In addition to OLG's platform, other operators offering similar horse racing betting services include Proline, OLG’s sportsbook brand, and bet365. Both Proline and bet365 incorporate horse racing bets through Woodbine’s tote system with parimutuel betting, making them the primary licensed providers allowing bettors to wager on live horse races in Ontario beyond OLG’s direct platform.

It's worth noting that all horse race wagering in Ontario remains parimutuel, as fixed-odds wagering on horse racing is federally prohibited. This partnership and market structure support Ontario's horse racing industry by channeling revenue back into the sport while expanding digital betting access for provincial players.

The $1-million King's Plate, one of the races that bettors can now bet on, will take place at Woodbine Racetrack on Saturday. This marks a significant expansion of betting options for Ontario sports bettors, as they can now place bets on live horse races from the comfort of their homes or on-the-go through their mobile devices.

This move by OLG is part of a larger effort to modernise and expand Ontario's gaming industry, providing more options and convenience for players while supporting local industries. For more information on OLG's horse racing wagering product, visit OLG.ca or download the OLG app today.
