Live Updates: Franco Colapinto's Practice Session 3 for the Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix

Hitting The Montreal Track!

Things are heating up at the Canadian Grand Prix as drivers gear up for the third free practice session! Colinapinto has been the first to take the supersoft tires for a spin, with the Aston Martins of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll close behind. The crowd is building up, and excitement levels are soaring!

But let's rewind a bit. It all started with Colinapinto making his mark on the Montreal circuit. Despite a blocked corner in turn 10, he managed to complete a lap that was above the 1m17s mark. The rest of the pack, including newcomer Leclerc, who's joining the fun today, were content to hit the pits without pushing too hard.

Now, the track is buzzing with activity, as drivers work out the initial kinks and test the limits of their machines. Despite Friday's mixed bag of results for Colinapinto, expectations for the young Alpine are set on reliability for the race. His race pace simulation was on par with teammate Pierre Gasly, suggesting that he's got what it takes to make a strong showing during the main events!

As the minutes tick by, the anticipation builds. The green light for qualifying is just a few hours away, and drivers are working tirelessly to find the perfect setup for this legendary Canadian circuit. Stay tuned for more updates as the day unfolds!

A Tumultuous Start To The Weekend

Friday was a turmoil-filled day, with Colinapinto spinning out in the same second corner of each practice session. He ended up finishing 19th and later 18th, though only ahead of Lance Stroll, who crashed, and Charles Leclerc, who couldn't turn.

Despite his tricky start, Colinapinto remains optimistic. "I can't seem to wrap my head around why I'm so competitive during long runs, even faster than Pierre [Gasly, his teammate], and then with low fuel and fresh tires, I'm so far behind." The gap between him and the fastest driver, George Russell (Mercedes), was significant, finishing just a second behind the other Alpine, which finished 12th, and 1.7/10 behind the front-running drivers.
