The Beat quartet, a unique ensemble of musicians with King Crimson pedigree, has announced the release of their new album, "Beat Live: Neon Heat Disease." The album is a live recording from performances during their 2024-2025 North and South American tour.

The quartet comprises four members: Adrian Belew (vocals/guitar), Tony Levin (bass), Steve Vai (guitar), and Danny Carey (drums) from Tool. The group has come together to reinterpret songs from King Crimson’s influential 1980s albums, with a focus on preserving and honouring the legacy of the original King Crimson lineup from that era.

"Beat Live: Neon Heat Disease" includes live versions of classics such as "Frame By Frame" and "Neal and Jack and Me." The album showcases complex polyrhythmic and poly-metric guitar work, highlighted by Steve Vai, underpinned by the virtuosic synergy of the band members.

The album was recorded at the United Theater in Los Angeles and produced by Angelo "Scrote" Bundini. It will be mixed by Bob Clearmountain and released on September 26, 2025, in multiple formats including digital, CD, Blu-ray, and deluxe vinyl editions with additional live content and a 36-page booklet.

The tracklist for "Beat Live: Neon Heat Disease" includes 19 songs, including "Three Of A Perfect Pair" and "Larks' Tongues In Aspic Part lll." The album will be available for pre-order, and a one-off show at Tokyo's Budokan Hall on September 1 will celebrate its release.

Adrian Belew, a King Crimson alumni guitarist and singer, has stated that the quartet is committed to honouring the legacy of the King Crimson quartet from the 1980s with each performance. Tony Levin, a Chapman stick player, is also a member of the quartet.

The Beat quartet's "Beat Live: Neon Heat Disease" promises to be a live celebration and reinterpretation of King Crimson’s 1980s work with high-end production and an enthusiastic reception on recent global tours. The album will be released by InsideOutMusic/Sony.
