Live Performance of Disco Elysium's Ancient Reptilian Brain Character's Iconic Karaoke Scene in Costume

In a Raucous Performance, Mikee W. Goodman Slays "The Smallest Church in Saint-Saëns"

Playing the part of Disco Elysium protagonist Harry Du Bois, voice actor and musician Mikee W. Goodman recently hit the stage with UK indie band Sea Power, belting out a rousing rendition of "The Smallest Church in Saint-Saëns." This haunting tune captivated players in the game's memorable and adored karaoke sidequest.

Snippets of the concert, shared by Goodman on TikTok, show him embracing his inner Ancient Reptilian Brian – one of Du Bois' many dynamic psychological facets – as he stepped into the role with gusto.

Dubbing it more of a theatrical performance than just a simple singing gig, Goodman explained, "I just thought to myself man, do you know what? This is my first on stage acting performance, because even though I'm just singing a song, it's theatrical."

Impersonating Du Bois, the veteran performer donned a screen-accurate Horrific Necktie and borrowed an official Atelier ZA/UM green jacket to complete the look. He even brought his own pair of flares to mimic the characters' distinctive attire found in the game.

In the karaoke sidequest in Disco Elysium, "The Smallest Church in Saint-Saëns" appears as a depression/breakup favorite of Harry Du Bois. This quest leads players either to a successful rendition of the song, featuring Goodman's Ancient Reptilian Brain voice, or a "failure" where Harry takes on a sickly, scratchy falsetto of the Limbic System[1][2].

Originally, "The Smallest Church in Saint-Saëns" is inspired by a pre-existing Sea Power song, "The Smallest Church in Sussex." sea Power guitarist Martin Noble shares that this location is a real place you can visit[1][3].

Apart from his work with SikTh and other projects, Goodman recently launched a new single, "Hermits Under Blankets" with his band The Sad Season. You can also find him on Cameo, offering personalized videos as his array of Disco personas[4].
