Live performance of Amadeus merges cinema and music at 2025 Transylvania Film Festival in Cluj-Napoca
The 24th Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) is set to take place from June 13 to 22 in Cluj-Napoca, and one of the highlights of this year's event is a unique presentation called Amadeus LIVE. On Sunday, June 22, the BT Arena will host a screening of the 1984 film Amadeus, directed by Miloš Forman, accompanied by a live orchestra performance.
The film tells the story of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's life through the eyes of Antonio Salieri, the court composer to Emperor Joseph II of Austria. Amadeus explores the life and genius of Mozart, a subject that has captivated audiences for centuries.
The live orchestra performance for Amadeus LIVE will be provided by the Cluj-Napoca National Opera Orchestra. The conductor for the event is Ernst van Tiel, a renowned Dutch maestro with extensive experience in film music. The "Madrigal - Marin Constantin" National Chamber Choir will also perform, led by principal conductor Anna Ungureanu.
Amadeus won eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor in a Leading Role. This special occasion marks the 40th anniversary of the film's release, making it a must-see event for both film and music enthusiasts.
