Live Performance: Animated Arrangement of Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons"

On January 13th and 15th, a unique musical event titled "Visual Euphony: Animation & Music" will be held, bringing together students and faculty from Tokyo Geidai, the University of Southern California (USC), and the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). The event, presented by Los Angeles, Tokyo University of the Arts, USC, and CalArts, will take place at The Aratani Theatre in Little Tokyo.

On January 15th, the event will be titled "An Evening of Animation | Student Works from Japan and the US." Koji Yamamura will serve as the Artistic Director, and Kazuki Sawa will be the Concertmaster. The concert will feature a live animation performance of Vivaldi's Four Seasons, with soloists from Tokyo Geidai and USC.

Ririko Takagi, a Bachelor of Music, 4th Year student at Tokyo University of the Arts, Department of Instrumental Music, will be the violin soloist for "Summer." Yukino Nakamura, a Master of Music, 1st Year student at Tokyo University of the Arts, Department of Instrumental Music, will take on the role of the violin soloist for "Autumn." Yuno Ambo, another Bachelor of Music, 4th Year student at Tokyo University of the Arts, Department of Instrumental Music, will perform as the cello soloist.

From USC, Sydney Mariano, a Bachelor of Music, 4th Year student at USC Thornton School of Music, will be the violin soloist for "Winter." Kevin Hsu, a viola student and a 2nd Year student in the Graduate Certificate program at USC Thornton School of Music, and Stella Cho, a cello student and a 2nd Year Doctor of Musical Arts student at USC Thornton School of Music, will also perform in the concert.

The performance will showcase Antonio Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons" with accompanying animations. Notably, the animations for Spring will be by Anna Budanova from Russia, Summer by Priit & Olga Pärn from Estonia, Autumn by Atsushi Wada from Japan, and Winter by Theodore Ushev from Bulgaria.

Mitsuko Okamoto will produce the event, and Takashi Kiriyama will serve as the Technical Director. The concert marks the North American premiere of this collaboration between two prestigious music and arts universities.
