Live Elections 2025 in Argentina: Urtubey Suggests Coalition Spanning From Cristina Kirchner to Lilita Carrió and the Civic Coalition Faces a Decision

In the bustling political landscape of Buenos Aires, a series of developments have shaken the foundations of various political parties. From electoral board resolutions to raids and resignations, the province has been witnessing an unprecedented whirlwind of events.

Buenos Aires Electoral Board Decision

The resolution of the Buenos Aires Electoral Board has brought clarity to the Bahian race, declaring Leopoldo Miglioranza, a Kirchnerist ex-councilor from the city of Luján, as the representative of the Building the Future party. Meanwhile, Milton Percy Hardcastle, a citizen of Bahía Blanca, had to take legal action to get his name removed from the list of candidates for councilor by the "Building the Future" party.

Political Tensions

Tensions between political heavyweights have been running high. A conversation between Cristina Kirchner and Axel Kicillof saw a sudden escalation, with Kirchner exclaiming, "I'm the one who's in prison here! I'm the only prisoner of Peronism here!" This outburst came amidst ongoing investigations and legal proceedings against several high-profile politicians.

Security Concerns

Security management has been a point of contention as well. Maximiliano Bondarenko, a libertarian candidate for Buenos Aires legislator by La Libertad Avanza, criticised Kicillof and Javier Alonso, stating that they represent the worst security management the province has ever seen. This criticism was sparked by a raid on Álvarez's house, ordered by the First Complex Crime Prosecutor's Office in Campana, which resulted in the seizure of cell phones, tablets, and computers.

Campaign Promises

Amidst the turmoil, political campaigns continue. For the October 26, 2025 elections in the Buenos Aires Province, La Libertad Avanza has nominated José Luis Espert as its leading candidate for the provincial parliament. Espert was accompanied by President Javier Milei during a campaign event in Lomas de Zamora, a Buenos Aires suburb.

Resignation and Allegations

Sergio Roberto Álvarez, a candidate for councilor by La Libertad Avanza in Escobar, resigned from the list after being charged with alleged sexual harassment against a teenager. The now former candidate, who was also an advisor in the libertarian block, occupied the seventh place on the list headed by Eduardo Luis Gianfranco.

Calls for Change

Raul Biaggioni, known as "Larry de Clay", called for a country that defends Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), national industry, commerce, and provides work opportunities for people with disabilities. He also emphasised the need for provinces to receive their fair share of resources.

Election Protests

Protests against the ruling Kirchnerist party have been seen in various parts of Buenos Aires. In Villa Celina, residents protested the lack of works with the banner "Kirchnerism never again".

Judicial Interventions

The political landscape has seen several judicial interventions. González D'Alessandro, a deputy from La Libertad Avanza who voted against Milei's veto, was removed from the party's leadership in the province by the national authorities of LLA who handed the intervention to judge Maria Romilda Servini.

Celebrations and Victories

Despite the challenges, there have been moments of celebration. Sebastián Galmarini, the director of the Banco Provincia and candidate for national deputy, celebrated the rejection of the veto on the Emergency in Disability and considered it a victory for the people who do not resign to cruelty.

Javier Alonso, the Buenos Aires Security Minister, also announced a 11% reduction in homicides compared to last year in Buenos Aires, a statistic that has been met with relief by many residents.

As the political landscape of Buenos Aires continues to evolve, one thing is clear: the province is witnessing a time of significant change and upheaval.
