BMW Championship Returns to Caves Valley Golf Club

The 2022 BMW Championship is set to tee off at Caves Valley Golf Club in Maryland, marking the return of the prestigious PGA Tour event to the picturesque course.

Scottie Scheffler, currently leading the FedEx Cup standings with 5,456 points, will be the one to watch as the top golfers battle it out for a spot in the Tour Championship. However, one notable absence is Jordan Spieth, who has decided not to participate in this year's event.

The field for the BMW Championship has been cut to the top 50 players in the latest FedEx Cup standings. Among those vying for the coveted title are Rory McIlroy, who is set to return to action after skipping the St. Jude Championship last week, and Keegan Bradley, the defending champion.

Maverick McNealy and Cameron Young are both in the top 15, with McNealy in 15th place (1,787 points) and Young in 12th (1,904 points). Meanwhile, Sepp Straka is in fifth place (2,783 points), and Tommy Fleetwood is in eighth (2,433 points).

Other stars teeing it up in Maryland include Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, Shane Lowry, and Collin Morikawa.

The tournament, which begins on Thursday, August 14 and ends on Sunday, August 17, will follow the traditional Thursday-Sunday format. The field will consist of the top FedExCup players, although the exact number may vary slightly from year to year.

Tee times will be staggered in morning and afternoon groups across two starting tees (1 and 10), with featured groups having specific broadcast times. The course will be a long par-70 layout, similar to the 2021 and 2025 events, which were approximately 7,600 yards.

Practice rounds will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the tournament rounds will commence on Thursday. The field in 2025 included the top 50 FedExCup players competing for a spot in the Tour Championship, and it is likely that the 2022 event followed a similar structure.

For a more precise list of player standings, tee times, and daily schedules, consult the PGA Tour official archives or historical event releases from 2022.

Justin Rose, who recently won the first playoff event of the schedule on Sunday, is in fourth place (3,220 points), while Russel Henley is in sixth (2,579 points) and Brian Harman is in 18th (1,559 points).

Last year's champion, Keegan Bradley, is in 14th place (1,792 points), and Andrew Novak is in 11th (1,991 points). J.J. Spaun is in third place (3,344 points), and Robert McIntyre is in 20th (1,550 points).

As the BMW Championship playoff event continues this week, all eyes will be on the players as they navigate the challenging course at Caves Valley Golf Club.

Football enthusiasts might find time to pause their weekend matches as betting lines are set to intrigue both casual and dedicated sports fans, with the BMW Championship in full swing. Although golf may not typically captivate the same frenzy as football, the high stakes of the PGA Tour event promise a thrilling battle for supremacy among the top golfers, including Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and the defending champion Keegan Bradley.
