Live action: Depeche Mode prepares for a new concert movie debut
The iconic band Depeche Mode is set to release a new concert film titled "Depeche Mode: M," which will be screened in cinemas and IMAX theaters worldwide starting October 28, 2025. This limited theatrical event will take place in over 2,500 cinemas across more than 60 countries[1][2][3].
The film, directed by Mexican filmmaker Fernando Frías, features footage from Depeche Mode’s three sold-out concerts at the Foro Sol Stadium in Mexico City in September 2023 during their "Memento Mori" tour. The film combines live concert footage with thematic explorations of mortality and Mexican cultural reflections on death, aligning with the band's 2023 album "Memento Mori"[1][3].
The profound connection between music, transience, and Mexican tradition is demonstrated in the film, offering audiences an intense musical and spiritual journey[1][3]. Dave Gahan, lead singer of Depeche Mode, praised the work of Mexican director Fernando Frías de la Parra, describing it as "truly wonderful."
"Depeche Mode: M" delves into more than just music and Mexican culture, focusing on the theme of transience. The film illustrates the timeless, multicultural impact of the band Depeche Mode, showcasing their ability to resonate with audiences across the globe[1][3].
Tickets for the screenings will go on sale starting September 17, 2025, and more event information will be available on the official site DepecheModeM.com[3].
