Live-Action Adaptation of "One Piece" Announces Casting for Tony Tony Chopper Role
Heads up One Piece fans, get ready to set sail as Netflix prepares for One Piece's second season! Today's Tudum livestream event brought some exciting news, including our very first look at one of the most anticipated new characters: the smart and spry Dr. Tony Tony Chopper.
In the livestream, the cast members Inaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero, and Taz Skylar shared a special sneak peek at the upcoming season, showcasing Chopper's live-action spin. Check it out below!
Tony Tony Chopper will be portrayed by the talented Mikaela Hoover, masterfully known for her roles in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 as Rocket Raccoon's rabbit friend Floor, and soon to be featured as media personality Cat Grant in Superman next month.[1] Hoover will provide the voice and facial motion capture for Chopper, bringing this eccentric character to life.
Originally introduced after the events of Drum Island arc in the manga, Chopper is an ambitious medic and aspiring doctor with a unique background. Having eaten a Devil Fruit that transformed him into a human-reindeer hybrid,[2] Chopper's love for medicine seems to stem from this unusual transformation.
While Netflix hasn't officially revealed the exact release date for One Piece's return, it's confirmed that the second season will drop next year.[3] Hoover is just one of the many new faces joining the series, alongside stars like Katey Sagal, Joe Manganiello, David Dastmalchian, Clive Russell, James Hiroyuki Lio, and more.[4]
