Literary & Culinary Collaboration: London Review Bookshop & St. John Open Café
A new literary and culinary collaboration is set to open its doors in Bloomsbury, London's literary heart. The London Review Bookshop and renowned nose-to-tail restaurant St. John have joined forces to create a unique café experience at 14-16 Bury Place, WC1A 2JL. The café, opening on Wednesday 1 October at 8am, promises a delightful blend of purpose and simplicity.
The café, hidden behind the dark green facade of the bookshop, will serve a variety of baked goods, coffee, teas, and hot chocolate from 8am daily. For those seeking a midday meal, savoury tarts and sandwiches will be available, paired perfectly with an early afternoon glass of wine. As the day winds down, the café will remain open until 6.30pm, offering wine, cocktails, and snacks to complement the bookshop's events programme. The café's menu will change regularly, reflecting a shared vision of purpose and simplicity between the London Review Bookshop and St. John.
Renée Doegar, publisher of the London Review of Books, described the partnership as a delicious pairing, likening it to bread and wine, madeleines and coffee. Trevor Gulliver, co-founder of St. John, revealed that the collaboration came about when the London Review of Books approached St. John to consider taking over their café space.
The new café, opening at 8am on Wednesday 1 October, is set to become a beloved spot for literary enthusiasts and food lovers alike. With its focus on purpose and simplicity, the café promises a delightful blend of literature and culinary excellence in the heart of Bloomsbury.
