Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the highly anticipated upcoming game in the Pokémon series, is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2025. The game returns to the Kalos region, first introduced in Pokémon X and Y, and revives the Mega Evolution mechanic with both classic and new Mega forms.

The complete confirmed list of Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, as of August 2025, includes the following:

Starter Pokémon (confirmed):

  • Chikorita
  • Tepig
  • Totodile[2][4]

Mega Evolutions (confirmed so far):

  • Mega Charizard X
  • Mega Charizard Y
  • Mega Kangaskhan
  • Mega Ampharos
  • Mega Gardevoir
  • Mega Sableye
  • Mega Altaria
  • Mega Absol
  • Mega Lucario
  • New Mega Dragonite (recently revealed)[1][2][4]

In addition to these, various other Pokémon have been spotted in trailers, but the official detailed full list has not been fully released yet. Some of the confirmed Pokémon, along with their evolutions, include:

  • Charmander → Charmeleon → Charizard (+Mega X/Y)
  • Pidgey → Pidgeotto → Pidgeot (+Mega)

A notable Legendary Pokémon confirmed for Pokémon Legends: Z-A is Zygarde, appearing in multiple forms: 10% Form, 50% Form, and Complete Form[2].

Unlike Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which introduced new prehistoric Pokémon, Legends: Z-A is set in modern Kalos, so the Pokédex is largely based on known species, with additions being mostly Mega Evolutions.

As the game’s launch approaches, more Pokémon and evolutions will likely be announced. Pokémon Legends: Z-A takes place in Lumiose City from the games Black and White. More Pokémon may be discovered as promotional material is released.

However, as of now, Shiny Pokémon, regional forms, and Legendaries besides Zygarde have not been confirmed in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The game involves working our way up the ranks of a tournament.

The initial trailer for Pokémon Legends: Z-A revealed over 30 Pokémon, and it's expected that the final roster will be much larger. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the game's release!
