Born and raised in Riverside, California, Cunningham attended the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) before dropping out to compete full-time in poker. He began his poker journey in local Indian casinos at the tender age of 18. After several years as a sponsored pro, he finally became a full-time member of Team Full Tilt in October 2006.
