Lise Davidsen's 'Christmas From Norway' Album Set for November 2023 Release
Lise Davidsen, the Norwegian operatic soprano renowned for her 'voice in a million', is set to release a festive album titled 'Christmas From Norway' in November 2023. The 36-year-old artist, who turned 36 this year, has been making waves in the classical music scene since her debut recording in 2019.
Davidsen's musical journey began at the age of 15 when she started singing, initially favoring popular, jazz, and soul genres. She later honed her skills at the Grieg Academy of Music in Bergen, where she completed her Bachelor's degree. Her talent was further refined at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and Opera Academy in Copenhagen.
The soprano's debut recording in 2019, featuring Wagner and Strauss arias, reached No. 1 in the classical music chart. Since then, she has released two more albums. In 2021, she presented a selection of arias and lieder by Beethoven, Wagner, and Verdi. In 2022, she collaborated with Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes for an album dedicated to Edvard Grieg.
Davidsen's operatic career is also flourishing. She will perform the title role in 'Ariadne auf Naxos' at the Vienna State Opera in 2024/25, taking over from Anna Netrebko. Additionally, she is featured in Puccini's 'Tosca' at the Metropolitan Opera as part of her exploration of the Italian repertoire.
Lise Davidsen's upcoming festive album 'Christmas From Norway' is highly anticipated, following her successful previous releases. Her exceptional talent and dedication to her craft have made her the first Scandinavian artist to sign with Decca Classics since Birgit Nilsson and the first Norwegian singer to join the label since Kirsten Flagstad.
