Hulk Hogan's Death: A Life in Wrestling and Controversy
In a shocking turn of events, Hulk Hogan, the iconic wrestler and cultural figure, passed away at the age of 71 on Thursday. The news was confirmed by the WWE, who helped Hogan achieve global recognition in the 1980s.
Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, was married to Melanie Sky Daily in September 2023, two months after announcing their engagement. Sky Daily was by his side throughout his final days, providing support during his recovery from a four-level Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) surgery. However, complications with his vocal cords and eating/breathing tubes made the recovery process challenging.
Sky Daily also denied rumors that Hulk Hogan was in a coma, assuring the public that he was recovering. Despite the challenges, the couple had been in and out of the hospital, seeking the best care for Hulk.
Hulk Hogan's personal life was not without controversy. He was estranged from his ex-wife, Linda, at the time of an emotional Instagram video she posted in March. In the video, Linda called Hulk a 'sex addict' and 'complete liar,' and alleged that she got nothing in their divorce, despite helping him build a business empire during their marriage. The two have had public feuds in recent years.
Linda, who was married to Hulk from 1983-2009, posted a reminiscent message about their happier days just before his death. Their children, Brooke and Nick, were also affected by the public feuds. Brooke chose to create distance for her own journey of healing and happiness and was not present at the wedding. Nick, however, was present.
Hulk Hogan was married to Jennifer McDaniel from 2010-21 before tying the knot with Sky Daily. He is survived by his daughter, Brooke, who is 36 years old, and his son, Nick, who is 34 years old.
