Limitation of air traffic in Primorye during the World Economic Forum.
The Eastern Economic Forum (EEF-2025) is set to take place in Vladivostok from September 3 to 6, with a focus on cooperation for peace and prosperity. In preparation for this significant event, the government of Primorsky Krai has announced temporary flight restrictions and heightened safety measures at Vladivostok International Airport and other regional airports.
These measures, aimed at ensuring flight security, involve reduced or temporarily suspended regular commercial flights during the forum dates. This is to secure airspace for official delegations, VIPs, and participants. Additionally, enhanced air traffic control and security protocols will be put in place to protect the large number of international participants expected (around 6,000 people from 36 to over 70 countries).
The flight restrictions will be within a 250-kilometer radius of Vladivostok. However, it's important to note that the ban does not apply to aircraft performing regular domestic and international flights, nor to those ensuring the safety and transportation of forum participants and other urgent tasks coordinated with the Federal Protective Service. Only specific flights are exempted from the EEF flight restrictions.
The consequences for regular flights are that travelers flying into or out of Vladivostok around the forum dates should expect possible delays, rerouting, or rescheduling. Passengers are advised to check with airlines and airports for the latest updates.
In addition to flight restrictions, participants are advised to carry cash in USD or EUR due to limitations on the use of foreign bank cards in Russia during this period.
Thus, the main effect on regular flights is temporary operational adjustments and increased security, which may impact flight availability and schedules to accommodate the forum's logistics and safety requirements. It's essential for travelers to plan ahead and stay informed during this period to ensure a smooth journey.
