"Lilliput": K Kavitha's Profane Remarks towards Party Head Signal Ensuing Strife within BRS Party

Kalvakuntla Kavitha Accuses Senior BRS Leaders of Inappropriate Comments

Kalvakuntla Kavitha, a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) for the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has launched a direct attack on senior party leaders, accusing them of being behind inappropriate and derogatory comments made against her.

At a press conference, Kavitha singled out a specific individual, dubbing them a "lilliput leader from Nalgonda," implying that they were responsible for the party's defeat in the Nalgonda district during the recent assembly elections. Political observers widely identify the target of her criticism as former minister and Suryapet MLA Guntakandla Jagadish Reddy.

Kavitha challenged the "Lilliput leader" to speak about her if they dare, suggesting that they may have caused the party's defeat. She also questioned who leaked a letter she wrote to KCR, implying that the "Lilliput leader" may have been involved.

Kavitha has indirectly accused powerful members within the BRS, including her brother K T Rama Rao (KTR), along with other senior leaders like Harish Rao and Santosh Rao, of being behind the offensive remarks. She expressed disappointment over the silence of BRS leaders following the offensive remarks by Congress MLC Teenmaar Mallanna, hinting that senior party figures were involved in orchestrating such attacks and chose not to publicly support her.

In addition to her criticism of the "Lilliput leader," Kavitha has accused BRS MLA and former minister G. Jagadish Reddy of making negative remarks about her and undermining her position within the party, further illustrating factional tensions inside BRS.

Kavitha has also expressed her disappointment about her party members' silence on the matter, stating it "exposes their stand towards me." She claimed that the inappropriate comments were made with the support of some insiders in the BRS party.

In response to the Telangana government's failure to implement a 42% reservation for Backward Classes, Kavitha accused the Congress government of "resorting to rhetoric without taking any concrete steps." She stressed that increasing the Backward Classes reservation quota is as crucial as holding the local body elections on schedule.

As a demonstration of her commitment to the cause, Kavitha announced a hunger strike, which she described as a "Gandhian path of peaceful resistance." The hunger strike is planned to take place at Dharna Chowk, Indira Park. The strike is in connection with the pending approval of two separate bills for BC reservations that were passed by the state assembly and council.

Kavitha has complained to the Legislative Council chairperson and the state police chief about the alleged derogatory comments made against her by MLC Chintapandu Naveen. She has also questioned why the government had not pursued legal action if the President has not approved the bills for over three months, citing Tamil Nadu's example of a legal fight for a higher reservation quota.

The state government is facing a high court directive to conduct local body elections by September 30. The outcome of these elections, along with the resolution of the BC reservation issue, will be closely watched as indicators of the political landscape in Telangana.

  1. The ongoing dispute within the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has seen Policy-and-legislation take center stage, with Kalvakuntla Kavitha, a member of the Legislative Council, accusing senior party leaders of inappropriate comments.
  2. The situation in the BRS party is reflective of General-news, as factions led by key leaders, including her brother K T Rama Rao and former minister Guntakandla Jagadish Reddy, appear to be at odds due to personal disagreements and perceived inadequacies in Politics.
