German Rap Icon Bushido Announces Retirement After 25 Years in the Music Industry

Berlin - After more than two decades in the German rap scene, Bushido, born Anis Mohamed Youssef Ferchichi, has declared his intention to retire from music and end his music career. The rapper, known for his notoriety and legal battles, plans to give his final performances in 2026, marking the end of his illustrious career.

With a farewell tour already under his belt in 2024, Bushido shared his plans for ten more concerts in 2026, followed by an additional five dates, with presales beginning on May 30. The rapper, who has faced various controversies in the past, expressed his desire for a peaceful and intimate conclusion, stating, "It's over… a comeback is out of the question."

Bushido's departure from the music industry seems to be driven by a desire for family life and financial independence. He spoke candidly about his personal growth, especially his relationship with his wife of 14 years and the diligence of his eight children. The rapper's focus now lies in real estate ventures, seeking to leave his music career behind without the need for endless reality TV appearances or performing at hardware stores as his fans grow older.

In the interview, Bushido admitted that retiring from music was a painful decision but stated that he wanted to maintain his dignity and depart on a high note. He expressed interest in benefit performances for causes such as helping children in war zones.

When asked about his involvement in feuds and legal disputes with figures like Arafat Abou-Chaker and rapper Fler, Bushido stated that he had emotionally moved on and that these individuals no longer played a role in his personal life. Leaving the music scene appears to be a smooth transition for the rapper, allowing him to focus on his family in Dubai and his new endeavors outside of music.

Despite being born to a Tunisian father and a German mother, Bushido remains connected to Germany and regularly listens to Berlin radio stations. He expressed pride in his German identity and distanced himself from political categorizations, stating, "I'm proud to be German, and I don't want to be associated with racist or extremist views."

As Bushido prepares for his retirement and final concerts, fans and supporters will look forward to witnessing a beloved figure's farewell performances. The rapper, now a family man and successful businessman, seems to be embracing a new chapter in his life away from the spotlight and the controversies of his past.

Bushido, during his final concerts in 2026, plans to engage in benefit performances for causes, such as helping children in war zones, showcasing his continued interest in music and entertainment beyond his career. The retiree, now focusing on family life and real estate ventures, still enjoys listening to Berlin radio stations, preserving his connection to German culture despite his move away from the music industry.
