Liesel Evans exits Raw after shaping its factual programming legacy
Liesel Evans, Creative Director of Factual at Raw, is leaving the company after nearly a decade. She first joined in 2017 as Head of UK Factual before rising to her current role. Her departure marks the end of a significant chapter for the production firm. Evans played a key part in building Raw's ties with major streaming platforms, including Netflix. While specific titles from her time at Raw remain unconfirmed, her executive producer credits elsewhere include The Tinder Swindler, In Vogue: The 90s, and Undercover Police Scandal. She also worked on Dead in the Water and The Child in the Box: Who Killed Ursula Herrmann.
During her tenure, she actively supported female documentary directors, collaborating with talents like Jane Preston and Lucy Wilcox. Raw's leadership—co-founders Bart Layton and Dimitri Doganis, CEO Joely Fether, and fellow Creative Directors Jonny Taylor and Tim Wardle—expressed regret at her exit but confirmed ongoing work together.
Evans will remain involved with current and upcoming projects for a transitional period. The company has not yet announced a replacement or detailed her future plans. Raw will continue partnering with Evans on existing commissions, ensuring a smooth handover. Her contributions to factual programming and industry relationships leave a lasting impact on the company. The search for a successor has not been publicly addressed.
