Lidl Switzerland slashes prices on 60 everyday essentials permanently
Lidl Switzerland has introduced a permanent price reduction on 60 everyday products. The move comes as Swiss households continue to face rising living costs. The new prices took effect in all stores from March 7.
The discount campaign covers essential items such as dairy, hygiene products, and baked goods. By lowering prices, the retailer aims to ease financial pressure on shoppers. The company is funding the cuts from its own resources rather than passing costs to suppliers.
Recent data shows mixed trends in Swiss food prices. Over the 12 months to February 2026, overall food inflation slowed to 1.1%, down from 2.1% in January. Some staples saw sharp increases—eggs rose by 14.5%, sugar by 8.1%, and meat by 4.5%. However, other products became cheaper, including cooking oils (down 19.7%), potatoes (down 18.1%), and dairy (down 4.9%). Lidl is actively monitoring market conditions to adjust prices where they most affect household budgets. The campaign reflects the company's response to ongoing economic challenges for consumers.
The price cuts are now in place across all Lidl stores in Switzerland. Customers will see lower costs on key items, funded directly by the retailer. The initiative targets everyday essentials to provide consistent relief from inflationary pressures.
