Lidberg's contributions paved the way for Darmstadt's 4-1 victory over Bochum.

In the opening match of the 2021-2022 2. Bundesliga season, SV Darmstadt 98 secured a convincing 4:1 victory over VfL Bochum, with striker Isac Lidberg scoring a hat-trick. Despite this impressive performance, transfer rumours surrounding Lidberg persist, with Egyptian club Pyramids FC reportedly offering €2.5 million for the Swedish striker.

The match began with Lidberg scoring the first goal for Darmstadt in the 5th minute, but VfL Bochum managed to equalize temporarily through Moritz Broschinski in the first half. However, the offensive effort from Bochum was not enough to mount a significant comeback against Darmstadt.

In the final moments of the first half, Lidberg scored another goal, taking the score to 3:1 in favour of Darmstadt. The second half saw little offensive action from VfL Bochum, while Darmstadt continued to press, with Lidberg scoring again after the break to extend their lead to 4:1. No other goals were scored by either team in the second half.

Aksandar Vukotic added a fourth goal for Darmstadt in the 56th minute, and both Mats Pannewig for VfL Bochum and Hiroki Akiyama for SV Darmstadt 98 made unsuccessful attempts to score. VfL Bochum conceded four goals in the match, marking a poor start to their 17th season in the 2. Bundesliga.

Despite the offer from Pyramids FC, Darmstadt's sporting director, Paul Fernie, has indicated the club's desire to retain their top striker unless an extraordinary offer is made. Lidberg, who had a standout previous season with 14 goals and 5 assists in 28 league matches, has reportedly considered the move, but there is no indication yet that Darmstadt will accept a transfer at the current offer level.

As the transfer saga continues, Pyramids FC's pursuit of Lidberg remains active, but the transfer has not progressed due to Darmstadt's firm stance on the valuation of their star player.

Isac Lidberg's goal-scoring prowess expanded beyond the German leagues, as Pyramids FC, an Egyptian club, showed interest in the Swedish striker with a €2.5 million offer. Despite this, Darmstadt's sporting director, Paul Fernie, confirmed the club's intention to keep Lidberg, expressing the need for an extraordinary offer to consider a transfer.
