In a strategic move to broaden its national footprint, PrizePicks, a leading daily fantasy sports (DFS) operator, has secured gaming licenses in Puerto Rico and Maine. This expansion marks a significant milestone in the company's ongoing growth strategy, allowing it to operate fantasy contests in 47 U.S. jurisdictions.

The company's entry into these new territories is part of a broader trend among DFS operators, who are aggressively pursuing licensing in new jurisdictions to capitalize on first-mover advantages in regulated gaming environments.

PrizePicks plans to launch its platform in Maine immediately, while the Puerto Rico launch is expected in the coming months. This phased rollout strategy enables the company to leverage opportunities in newly regulated markets as they become available.

Beyond geographic expansion, PrizePicks is also investing in product innovation and responsible gaming. The company introduced a unique feature called "Stacks," which allows multiple projections from the same athlete within a single lineup—a first in the DFS industry. PrizePicks has also emphasized responsible gaming, having earned iCAP accreditation from the National Council on Problem Gambling in 2025, making it the first DFS operator to do so.

Adam Packer, Senior Vice President of Legal & Compliance at PrizePicks, expressed gratitude to the Puerto Rico Gaming Commission and the Maine Gambling Control Unit for their support during the licensure process. He added that the company is committed to maintaining a safe and secure gaming environment for its users.

The iCAP accreditation, a rigorous process that assesses an organization's commitment to responsible gaming and consumer protection, underscores PrizePicks' dedication to these principles. In Maine, where legal sports betting launched in 2023, PrizePicks' launch comes amid increased scrutiny of DFS models.

PrizePicks' achievement of iCAP accreditation and its entry into Puerto Rico may pave the way for other DFS operators exploring similar expansion strategies. The company's skill-based fantasy product, Arena, is now live in Maine, and its launch in Puerto Rico is expected in the coming months.
