Ahead of his untimely demise in October 2024, global sensation Liam Payne graced the screen for the Netflix casting show "Building The Band." Originally set to appear as a guest judge, the erstwhile One Direction frontman's final television appearance is scheduled to air—posthumously.

Netflix had announced July 9th as the premiere date for "Building The Band" via a riveting trailer. According to "Deadline," the fate of the series rested with Liam's family after his sad demise. Netflix confirmed in a statement that the family had reviewed the series, expressing their support for his inclusion in the show.

Liam Payne: A Star Snuffed Out at 31

Netflix's musical competition, "Building The Band," brings together talented singers to form the ultimate band. Contestants perform in soundproof booths, connected only by headphones, listening to their fellow musicians. If they think the tunes harmonize well, they press the buzzer and band together. None of them ever get to see each other, save for after successful formation and the ensuing live performance. The aim is to discover the next major music act. "The next Backstreet Boys," a confident participant proclaims in the preview.

The show is helmed by Backstreet Boy AJ McLean and guided by mentor and judge Nicole Scherzinger, of the Pussycat Dolls fame. Destiny's Child alumna Kelly Rowland joins the panel of judges, with Payne rounding off the celebrity quartet. The ten episodes are set to unfold across three weekly installments: July 9th, 16th, and 23rd.

Posthumous Premiere: A Tragic Twist

"Building The Band" first made waves in August 2024, slated for imminent release. However, tragedy struck on October 16th, when Liam Payne fell from the balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, leaving fans and followers in shock. An autopsy revealed a lethal cocktail of alcohol and cocaine in his system, extinguishing Payne's musical flame at the tender age of 31.
