Liam Hemsworth’s ‘Subversion’ transforms Gold Coast into Hollywood’s new hotspot

Hollywood is taking over the Gold Coast as filming begins for the action-thriller 'Subversion'. The movie, directed by Patrick Vollrath and starring Liam Hemsworth, is transforming local sites into Californian settings. The production is expected to last six months, bringing excitement and economic boost to the area.

Liam Hemsworth, known for his roles in Marvel's Avengers series, is reprising his tan floral button-up shirt and dark trousers for his character in 'Subversion'. The film, written by Andrew Ferguson, also stars Joe Cole, Lily James, and Simone Kessell. The plot revolves around a naval commander transporting dangerous cargo on a submarine, with no release date announced yet.

Crew members are using American flags and prop emergency vehicles to recreate a Californian setting. The Gold Coast is doubling as San Diego, USA, with several Queensland locations serving as US backdrops. Liam Hemsworth was recently spotted filming aboard a party boat near the Southport Yacht Club.

'Subversion' is expected to bring significant benefits to the Gold Coast, with local businesses and onlookers expressing excitement about the movie production. The film's six-month shoot will provide a boost to the local economy and showcase the region's versatility as a filming location.
