Liam Gallagher Slams Edinburgh Authorities Over Oasis Fans Criticism

Liam Gallagher disagrees with the evaluation of Oasis fans by the authorities.

In response to claims made by Scottish officials that Oasis fans are problematic, with reports of derogatory remarks in local media, Liam Gallagher, the iconic British band's frontman, has come to his followers' defense. "Your attitude stinks," Gallagher fired back to the Edinburgh authorities via X.

According to internal documents from the authorities, released by the "Scottish Sun" newspaper, "middle-aged men take up more space" is a concern for security arrangements during the scheduled Oasis concerts on August 8, 9, and 12 [4]. The document also mentions the presence of large groups of "rowdy" fans and the "tone of the band" being a potential issue.

Edinburgh, home to the world's largest arts and culture festival—the Fringe Festival—has raised concerns about the Oasis concerts threatening the festival's safety and the artists participating in it [5]. Some artists are even considering skipping performances that weekend.

Nonetheless, Liam Gallagher has urged his fans to leave the city, stating, "I'd leave the city that day if I were one of you" [1]. With around 210,000 fans expected to attend the three concerts, this advice is significant.

After reconciling with his estranged brother and fellow band leader, Noel Gallagher, in late August 2024, the brothers announced a joint world tour for 2025 [6]. Formed in Manchester in 1991, Oasis is known as a Britpop pioneer with hit albums and songs like "Wonderwall" and "Don't Look Back In Anger" that sold millions of copies [6].
